Teaching Experience
I started teaching voice in 2015 through a volunteer program with Columbia University called Musical Mentors, which provides private lessons for public schools which lack music education. I taught a first grader and prepared her for a school wide concert. Seeing my students’ progress and performance gave me such satisfaction that since then, I have continually sought out teaching opportunities. I was an assistant to a voice, piano, and general music teacher in NYC for 2 years while teaching as part of my vocal pedagogy curriculum and building up my own studio with a focus on building a healthy and solid vocal technique. I am currently enrolled in a teacher training course for the Alexander Technique and have been a Dance Captain teaching choreography in crossover shows that I have been in.
These diverse teaching experiences have helped form a mind-body connection that is essential to my teaching style as well as the performing aspect of making the music come alive. My current students range in age from 12-32 and styles that they sing include classical, musical theater, pop, and alternative styles. I have helped singers reach their personal goals which have ranged from matching pitch to wining competitions, getting the leading in a show, or putting together a solo recital.
